The Bride's Family

Tonima family.jpg
Born and raise in Bangladesh, until we emigrated in the USA in the year 2003. Chitra Rozario, Maureen Paul (Tonima) and Egbert Paul (Dhrubo) worked hard to earn a living in New York. After a few years, in 2006, Albert Khan had the opportunity to join the rest of his family back in New York. Little did Maureen know that her soul mate had moved away from New York by that time.

Albert Khan is a father committed to his family and God. His struggles growing up in Bangladesh can be seen by his strong skills to lead and manage an organization as well as provide loving hospice care to his parents-in-laws during the times of their ailing health. Albert is a magnificent gardener, seen by the over abundance of vegetables and flowers outside their home. Albert, together with Chitra, provide guidance to ensure their children grow up with the care, love and education vital to follow God and be an exemplary citizens of today’s society.
Chitra Rozario is a great mother who is dedicated to God and her family. She strives for excellence in everything she does with the faith of God and the Holy Mother Mary. She is gifted and versatile at arts and creativity, singing, poetry, embroidery, cooking, interior decorating, fashion, ... and the list goes on. My mother is never grows tired to provide for her family. As the strong independent woman she is, she also showed her profound leadership as a Program Supervisor at World Vision for 12 years. After moving to NYC, she utilizing her psychology education background to work at AHRCNYC. Her presence and guided prayer can be seen throughout the Bengali community of New York as she continues to be involved in religious prayers, Probashi (Bengali Christian Association in NY) and Bishwa Bhara Praan.

Egbert Paul, Dhrubo, is Tonima's younger brother, but who acts like her older one and hates taking pictures. He is an architect by profession and a perfectionist at home. He excels at creativity and cooking. He is a great helper at home and will take in charge of home projects all the time. Despite him being an annoying person, who likes to pick a fight on everything (as a perfectionist), Dhrubo is very caring, trustworthy and protective towards his family.

Maria Rozario, Tonima's beloved maternal grandmother, has been bringing endless joy to all those around and reminding all the important ideologies of life and how to live an empathic life, for 84 years and counting. She is adorable and her smile makes everyone's day. Her love for eating muri (puffed rice) and chitoi pitha (steamed pancakes) is endless just like her heart for all those she meets and her family. She misses my grandfather dearly.

Sitima Khan, Tonima's beloved paternal 88 year old grandmother, who lives in Bangladesh. She is the evergreen pillar of the family, with hair more black than silver, and a smile more bright and joyous than the sun. Her love for all kinds of food, especially mutton curry, knows no bounds (and can give any one of us a run for our money). She will always have a candy waiting for you whenever you visit and a small snippet of a dream or memory from her childhood to reminisce of the old times.
Our Late Grandfathers
Tonima's lost both of her grandfathers. We all pray that both rest in peace next to God in heaven. We will miss them dearly.  We hope they are watching us from heaven and giving us their blessings.

Cyril D'Rozario, maternal grandfather, left us this year and left a big hole in our lives. He was great grandfather who would do go beyond for his grand children. He was an honest and compassionate human being all his life, and had faith in the Virgin Mary until his last breath. Dadu, we are missing you a lot.
Paul Khan, paternal grandfather, was the backbone pillar of Khan family, as this family stepped into Christianity through him. In Bangladesh, Tonima used to have lunch with him everyday and dadu taught her about bible and Jesus' teaching. Lets just say, Tonima wouldn't have passed her religion class without his guidance.
